Whereas, Pearson Pierson & Thomas, as plaintiff in the above stated cause has obtained an attachment, issued out of the Inferior Court of Sylacauga Alabama, in and for said County and State, on the 1 day of December, 1925, and returned in before said court, on the first day of March, 1926, at Sylacauga, Alabama, against the estate of said Mrs. J.F. Nunnellee, defendant, for the recovery of the sum of $39.41, therin, and, whereas said attachment has been executed by Hunter Jones, constable for said County, by levying of the following as the property of the said Mrs. J.F. Nunnellee, viz
8 oak chairs, 1 dining table, 1 ___ stove, 3 iron bed steads, 2 bundles of bed clothes, 4 boxes of household
goods, 2 sets of bed springs, 1 tool chest, and 1 cook stove.

And whereas it apears that said Mrs. J.F. Nunnellee, is a non-resident of the State of Alabama, and resides at Huston(sic), Texas.

Now therefore, the said Mrs. J.F. Nunnellee, is hereby notified of said attachment and the levy thereof as aforesaid.

Cornett Announces For Sheriff

Thursday, J.C. Cornett, of Sylacauga, formally announced that he will be a candidate for the office of sheriff of Talladega County.

Mr. Cornett, is one of the best known men in the county and has the record of having served the county as sheriff two terms prior to his entering the present race.

Whereas, I.J. Scott, as plaintiff in said cause, has obtained an attachment out of this court issued on, to wit; the 23rd day of November, 1925, against the estate of the said defendant, S.E. Mott, which attachment has been levied upon the following described property, as the property of said defendant, to-wit; one Elgin watch and chain case number 5776996, movement number 25678203, and whereas, it appears that the said S.E. Mott, defendant as aforesaid is a non-resident of the state of Alabama.

Now therefore, the said S.E. Mott, wherever he may reside, is hereby notified of the levy and pendency (sic) of said attachment.

Miss Konzula Nelson, will return to the city Thursday after ____ding a two weeks vacation in Florida. Miss Annie Cooper who has been relieving Miss Nelson at the Western Telegrqaph _n office, will return to her ___e in Birmingham.

Miss Birdie Wilson is visiting in Birmingham.

Hon. John C. Williams of The Talladega Home, was in the city Monday attending the International Harvester short course which was in session here Monday and Tuesday.

Ernest Edwin Jackson, who is the head proofeader on The Advertiser, at Montgomery, spent the first of the week in the city with his mother, Mrs. Ada Jackson, on West Spring Street.

Miss Lucile Frey of Birmingham, is the guest of Mrs. Jack Pitts.

Mr. W.A. Levelle, of Rockford was in the city Friday on business.

V.O. Russell, of Fayetteville, was attending business in the city Friday.

Mr. Ben W. Carden of Rockford was in the city last Friday on business.

Deputy Sheriff Mack Waites, of Rockford, was in the city Saturday on business.

Messers Penton, and Clyde Shaw, of Rockford, were in the city Saturday on business.

Mr. Pointer, a life insurance man of Alexander City, was in the city last of the week.

Mrs. W.A. Levelle, of Rockford, who has under gone an operation in a local hospital is rapidly improving.

Mr. O.J. Stewart, of this place was carried to a local hospital with pneumonia.

Mrs. G.E. Crowell, was a visitor to Birmingham Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Stewart of Sycamore have moved to the city and will reside on Norton Avenue.

The fox hunters of this community enjoyed two good races last week.

John Green and John Marvin Pearson attended church at Fayetteville Sunday night.

Misses Eunice Pearson and Belle Harding are visiting in Sylacauga.

Mr. Rufes Williamson, was visiting down in the Bend Sunday P.M.

There is to be an oyster supper here for the benifit of our school soon.

Mr. Bill Roberson gave a party last Saturday night.

We are glad that Lessis Pearson is back in school after a weeks absence on account of eye trouble.

We are having some disagreeable weather to start on a New Year.

Mr. T.H. Dunn of Marble Valley was in Sylacauga last week shopping.

Mr. George Climons of Sylacauga spent Sunday afternoon with Miss Allie Mae Russell.

Mr. Otis Sheley, of La___co spent Christmas with Misses Katie Vardman and Mary McGee.

Every body seemed to have a nice time at Mr. Robenson’s last Saturday night.

Miss Essie Bee Glankingship (Blankenship?) of near Clanton was visiting Misses Mary McGee and Irene McGrady last week.

Mr. Standly Harrison of near Talladega Springs spent the day with Miss Nancy Strickland last Thursday.

Fayetteville had a ball game with Sycamore last week.

Mr. Hobson Green spent the day with Miss Eula Riggins Sunday.

Fire Wednesday Causes Excitement

Negro Store Building is Destroyed By Fire

Much excitement was caused in the eastern section of the city Wednesday evening about 6:00 o’clock when the negro store operated by Cephus Russell, colored, was discovered on fire. The blaze spread very rapidly and had practically consumed the building before the fire company arrived and made a water connection, but the spread of the flames to a near-by building was prevented.

The building was the property of Mr. Thos. White.

Most of the goods were saved from the building.

J.B. Davis, manager of the Rendalia-Rockford Turpentine Company, is preparing to build several nice cottages on a tract of land he owns on the Rockford highway about one mile south of the city.

Mr. Davis, it is said, states that he can rent the cottages for less than is charged for city property, and that he expects to rent the cottages as fast as they are completed, as a number of people prefer to have the liberties of the country in preference to conjested conditions in the city, and that those owning cars can come to their work in the city within a few minutes.

It is said that O.T. Brooks, a local contractor will have charge of the building.

Funeral Services for Frank H. Hubbard

Funeral services for Frank H. Hubbard, well known Talladega young man, who died Tuesday morning at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. N.J. Hubbard, were held at the residence Wedneday afternoon at 2:30. Beautiful floral offerings from the many friends of the family graced the home, and the house was filled with people.

The services were conducted by Dr. A.M. Freeman of the First Methodist Church, assisted by the ministers of the other churches of the city.

Pall bearers were T.P. Lane, J.C. Burt, H.F. McElderry, Ed R. Wren, H.E. Blake, P.S. Williams, A.G. St(acey?), and T.M. McConnell.

Burial was made in the Talladega cemetery.
