Mr. and Mrs. Vandiver back from Oklahoma
Mr. and Mrs. Wellington Vandiver retuned to Talladega from a visit in Muskogee, Okla., Wednesday night.
Mr. Vandiver, who is city recorder, resumed tenancy of his office in the city hall building Thursday morning, and began his duties again as judge and weather recorded(sic), a little glad to get back to his old friends and full of new expectations from his two weeks visit with his daughter.
In order to escape from Oklahoma where everyone entertained royally and profusely, the judge states he found it necessary to ask a newspaper reported(sic) to announce his departure. Otherwise, he said, the receptions would have continued endlessly.
Judge Vandiver was called on to speak at a number of receptions, club dinners and other occasions, and found it necessary to buy a new grip to bring back the favors accumulated at the affairs.
In Memphis, where they spent two days on the journey to Oklahoma, at the Peabody hotel, they saw a huge marble fountain cut from rock quarried at Gantts Quary(sic), which Mr. Vandiver had seen taken from the ground.
