Sylacauga Public School Opening
A Strong Faculty Has Been Selected – Enrollment Expected To Be Large
The Sylacauga Public School will begin its 1924-25 session tomorrow morning, (Monday) September 8th. The opening exercises will be held at 8:30 and all patrons and friends of the school are asked to be present.
The faculty for the year is:
Misses Mary McDiarmid, Marian Harmon, Maude Hebson, Zada Davis, Emily Slocomb, Ruth Keahey, Laura Payne, Mamie Snellgrove, Carolyn Johnston, Messers. Hal C. Graves, Hubbard B. Smyth.
Mrs. W.J. McLeod will have charge of the piano class and Miss Virginia Street, will again be in charge of the expression classes.
The Junior 1, and Junior 2 high school classes are being organized in order to place the Sylacauga schools on the 6-3-3 basis, as recently aproved by the State authorities.

During the afternoon music was funishd by the Red Hot Sernaders (sic). This orchestra is composed mostly of home talent, and which has been furnishing music at Clairmont Springs, a famous resort, during the past summer months, in one of the best Jazz Orchestra’s is the state, and it was indeed a credit to the city.
The Sylacauga Drug Company “The Rexall Store” is managed by Dr. P.L. Mosley, with the following efficient force: Mr. Frank Barrow, who is a registered prescription man, assists Dr. Mosley in the compounding of prescriptions, and also acts as front man and always meets the customers with a pleasantness; Charley Caudle handles the soda fount in a professional way and is always courteous and accommodating with the customers. Rowdy Mathews is Mr. ______ assistant and general ____ man, and fills his place with ____ and courtesy in all. In addition to this force a ____ of delivery boys are always on _____.

A citizens’ meeting was held Wednesday to nominate a mayor and councilmen. The ticket will be Rev. R.L. Wilson for Mayor, E.V. Ogletree, R.T. Jones, M.J. Cliett, G.K. Strain, for councilmen.

Mrs. Johnnie Brown Jr., entertained Thursday afternoon with a Rook Party, at her home on Norton Ave. Fifteen tables of rook were enjoyed after ___ a delicious salad course was served the guest.
Mrs. J.H. Batson, who has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Batson, is visiting relatives in Talladega, before returning to her home in Jacksonville, Fla.
Little Miss Carolyn Scott, proved a charming hostess to a party at her home on Friday evening. After interesting games the guests were served delicious refreshments.
Miss Elsie Harrison, proved a charming hostess to a bridge party at her home last Thursday in honor of Miss Mable McHenry.
