A human skeleton was found in the woods near Sylacauga last week, supposed to be that of a negro.

Skeleton In the Woods
Horrible Find Near Sylacauga – All the Flesh Gone – Murder Most Fou_

Sylacauga, Sept. 16 [Special.]
At Trammel’s Switch, four miles below here, the skeleton of a man has been found. The flesh had been picked nearly all off the bones except where protected by some of the clothing that remained on and could not easily be torn away. An alpaca co__ and a pair of brogan shoes were near by. The body – supposed to have been killed – had been covered up with limbs and leaves and a large, lately cut hickory stick was found near by.

The skeleton was found in the woods near the switch and is thought to be that of a negro man who drew some money there a few days ago and started for Atlanta accompanied by another negro who said he would go with him.

The dead man wore a truss, which was also found near by, and which another negro man says he bought from a firm in Goodwater. We have not learned the name of the dead man, and think from present indications that the murder will soon be traced up.
